Click HERE for the most current schedule for the Solo Festival, held at Norwalk Middle School on March 2. Over 100 students signed up to perform their solo - WOW! I'm very excited for these students to play for their family & friends, they will also get feedback from another band teacher with areas they are doing well and helpful suggestions as well.
There are some open spots available if your child would like to still participate and perform their solo, please let me know and I can add them to the schedule!
Due to the large number of students, we are split between 2 rooms - I will accompany most students in Center 1 and Mrs. Ostrander (former music teacher and current piano teacher in Waukee) will accompany some students in Center 2. Signs will be posted to find these rooms.
My hope is for students to have learned some new things from their solo and have a positive performing experience in a safe feeling environment for their family. Ratings will not be posted and I will share their rubric with them the following week.
Also below is general information about that day - we will be talking through this in Big Band and lessons, so students feel comfortable with introducing themselves to their final bow.
** Students with Mrs. Ostrander will get a chance to practice with her one time on Tues. Feb. 26 - please remember to bring instruments/music.
If your child is not performing at Solo Festival, we will be making a video of them playing their solo with piano accompaniment at a band lesson in early March and I will e-mail it to you!
Please let me know if you have any questions or stop by during conferences!
