Oct. 9 UPDATE

Post date: Oct 9, 2017 10:50:49 PM

We are celebrating one month of 5th grade band! It has been amazing to hear the progress in this short amount of time and I super proud of all the students.

Last Friday I sent home their one-month progress report showing you what expectations they are meeting, working on and needing practice (students that were absent or forgot their instrument will get theirs this week). The expectations include the following:

- being responsible remembering their instrument, book & folder

- showing regular home practice

- knowing their first 3 notes

- articulating notes using their tongue to start a sound (winds only)

- having their mouth in the correct shape to make a good tone (winds only)

- sitting up tall and holding their instrument correctly

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

I have taken a few more pictures, including the karate "belts" students have earned from filling out their practice charts and a group picture of both bands. Check them out in the above "photos/videos" tab.

Mark your calendars - first performance coming up soon!!

The 5th grade band is excited to share our progress in the first 2 months of band. We will be demonstrating what we have learned so far including what we sounded like in the first days, showcasing some individual and group performers, and also songs as a full band.

Karate Kick-Start Practice Challenge #1

Many students have earned their yellow belt, orange belt and more! Way to be Proactive and Begin with the End in Mind by making plans to get their practicing in at home. We will be finishing up these practice charts in 3 weeks - let's see how many band students can earn their belts! Check out the pictures on the "photo/video" tab above!
