CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between Governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.
While continuing to support the application of CITES, TRAFFIC has developed its role in addressing wildlife trade issues in a wider context, including major commercial sectors such as fisheries and timber trade and a wide range of regional and local issues.
Renctas takes action against the traffic of wild animals in the form of international awarenes campaigns, courses, training, workshops, support and development of projects of research and preservation of the animal life, elaboration of databases, and control and support programs.
