Scan Multiple Parts Of Tissue Into One Virtual Slide

Some slides contain multiple specimens that are not connected but should be scanned into one virtual slide. When there are enough particles in the empty parts of the slide, it is possible to move to the next tissue.

For slides with very clean empty areas, this is not possible because the scanner loses track. In this case, it is possible to freeze the already scanned image content by hitting the "F"-Key. Then, a new location to start scanning can be chosen on the slide. Additionally, the corresponding starting position can be chosen in the virtual slide.

This allows arranging the specimens on the virtual slide differently than on the real slide. It is even is possible to scan multiple real slides into one virtual slide.

Steps to scan a slide

After scanning the first tissue perform these steps to add another tissue to the virtual slide:

00. Click "Add new sub scan" or press"F" to enter Freeze-Mode.

01. Now all image content that is already scanned is frozen.

02. Move to the new starting location on the physical slide.

03. Use the mouse to drag the already scanned data away until the specimen visible on the camera is approximately at the same location relative to the other scanned specimens as it is on the physical slide. You can choose other locations freely, but you should take care to avoid overlaps between the old and the new scan on the virtual slide.

04. Press Enter to start scanning or press backspace to undo freezing
