Google Sites for digital portfolios

"I am no longer the sole, and final evaluator of their work. I am an instructor guiding them, and helping them prepare their work for publishing. I found that I have to teach my students how to evaluate work, and provide useful comments to their peers, and in doing so, they have improved and learned themselves."

"My students love working on their Google Sites! The process of creating a digital portfolio is helping my students realize that the important part of learning is the journey and the process. They are able to see their growth and how far they have come."

About Megan

Megan Albright, shown on the right with her new iUSE Tech T-shirt, is a 4th grade teacher at Valhalla elementary school. After taking a Summer Learning Academy class the summer of 2015 on using Google Sites for ePortfolios, she dove right in this fall with her students. Squeezing it in during their limited time in the school's computer lab, she was able to guide all her students on how to develop their own Google sites to showcase their school work. When her students were interviewed the day she received her iUSE Tech T-shirt they all enthusiastically said they enjoyed learning how to use this digital tool. The also said things like "It was fun to learn this way" or "I enjoyed being creative making my website."

Megan is now looking to take technology integration to the next level. Importantly, Megan had support from her Principal Marji Calbeck to try this new, exciting tools for learning.
