About Dr. Pollina
Topic: Engineering
SMART GOAL SPECIFIC SENTENCE:
I will learn about
Rocket Science
using
Kerbal Space Program
HOW TO SAVE:
click the
orange exit button in the top right > click Save Progress > Type your name in > Save
Kerbal Space Program (KSP) is a game where the players create and manage their own space program
Build spacecraft, fly them, and try to help the Kerbals to fulfill their ultimate mission of conquering space
Use command pods, fuel tanks, engines, wings, and decouplers to escape Earth's gravity!
What I'll Learn
I CAN
use the engineering design process to build and test rockets
I CAN
attempt to land on another planet/moon
I CAN
use scientific data (
delta-V
) to make changes to my rocket design
Stuff I'll Need
Kerbal Space Program
Software
Tutorials to learn the tools
Patience and resilience to push through
Day 1
Learn the tools and the layout of the program, follow the tutorial
Day 3
Continue working on your
rocket
design,
try to break Earth's atmosphere
Day 2
Start a new
rocket
design with the skills you learned yesterday
Day 4
Can you land (or crash) on the Mun (same distance as Earth's moon)
Can you land on the Moon?
in 2025, these students landed on the moon:
Henson Robinson
Thomas Cannady
David Johnson
These students went further:
Henson Robinson created multiple Space Stations
Thomas Cannady Landed on Duna (Mars)
David Johnson landed on Minimus

Where is this used in the Real World?
NASA
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is constantly exploring space to learn more about the final frontier
Rocket Design
Rockets are the fastest vehicles mankind has ever made, and are needed to break free from earth's gravity
Launching Satellites
Satellites are gadgets that orbit the Earth. They can take pictures, send internet data, and help predict weather formations
