Directions: This particular story has been described as an allegory for the American Revolution. Using your critical thinking abilities and analytical skills, determine how this story is symbolic of the American Revolution. Then produce an analytical paragraph in which you defend your claim and thinking. Remember to PEAL on your paper in performing your analysis.

PEAL (Point, Evidence, Analysis, Link):
Point-This is the point you are trying to prove. It is your opinion as to what you think the answer is to the question based upon the information you read about your author.
Evidence- This is where you provide evidence as to your thinking. It should it in the form of a direct quote from the text that you read. The reason for this is because something in the text made you believe or form your opinion/point. The direct quote shows your reader that your thinking is plausible.
Analysis- This is where you explain how your evidence backs up your thinking. The more detailed your analysis the more relevant your evidence becomes.
Link- This is where you connect your conclusion back to the point you are trying to make.
Allegory: a story in which the characters and events are symbols that stand for ideas about human life or for a political or historical situation.
