Diana Day is a time honored tradition which dates back to the Olmecs and celebrates the birthday of Diana Cornejo Sanchez on May 14th. One of the elements of Diana Day is to surprise Diana, even though she knows it is her birthday. The most surprising time to celebrate Diana's birthday is in March. If March is not an option, then find a day when you think you can surprise Diana. Most Diana Days occur on her birthday, but this involves extensive planning to get someone to take her to lunch on her birthday. Dawn Wirts at HTHI usually takes her out.
Diana Day Logistics:
-Occurs immediately after lunch
-Involves surprising Diana to the point of convulsions
-Involves having 9th graders keep a secret (the hardest part)
-Involves getting kids to secretly bring in cookies, brownies, soda, plates, napkins, cups, ice cream, potato chips, and other junk.
-I have always wanted to have some sort of parade for Diana Day, make this happen
-Usually we surprise her, then watch YouTube Videos for 30 minutes, then we end up watching a movie or going outside. Basically it is an afternoon of "community building"
