The following are the requirements for obtaining an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students are required to complete 30 credits. New requirements for students in 2024 or later
Students must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement activities as part of the diploma requirements. The purpose of this requirement is to encourage students to develop an awareness and understanding of civic responsibility and of the role they can play and the contributions they can make in supporting and strengthening their communities. Students will plan and select their community involvement activities in consultation with their parents and as part of the IPP (Individual Pathways Plan).
Although this diploma requirement applies to students in Grade 9 to 12, students in Grade 8 are able to start accumulating community involvement hours in the summer before they enter Grade 9. Students are encouraged to complete a minimum of 10 hours per year.

Students may check the bulletin board titled "Community Involvement Hours" in the Guidance Office for volunteer opportunities.
The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) measures whether students are meeting the minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9. Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
The cohort of students who entered grade 9 in 2020-21 and after will be required to complete 2 online courses as part of their secondary school requirements. Parents/guardians can request to opt out of this requirement through the Parent Portal.
The Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC) will be granted on request to students who leave school before earning the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), provided they have earned a minimum of 14 credits distributed as follows:
Compulsory Credits - total of 7
2 credits in English
1 credit in mathematics
1 credit in science
1 credit in the arts or technological education or computers
1 credit in Canadian geography (Grade 9) or Canadian history (Grade 10)
1 credit in health and physical education
Optional Credits - total of 7
