Principal's Message - Commencement (May 22, 2025)
Good afternoon families of our potential Huron Park graduates,
We look forward to celebrating with our graduates at Commencement on Thursday, June 12th and wanted to take an opportunity to provide you with some of the details. To be eligible to participate in the ceremony, students must be on track to graduate, have submitted their 40 volunteer hours and paid the $20 Grad fee for the cap and gown which they get to keep.
Date: Thursday, June 12th, 2025 7:00 PM (graduates are asked to arrive no later than 6:30 PM to get organized).
Location: Maranatha Church, 735 Frontenac Crescent (overflow parking at St. Mary’s High School on Juliana Drive).
Tickets: Each graduate has been provided with 2 guest tickets to the Commencement ceremony which can now be picked up at the main office. These tickets have been numbered and allotted to specific graduates and it is mandatory that the properly numbered ticket be presented to administration at the door to gain entry to the ceremony. Due to the limited seating capacity of the venue, for safety reasons guests arriving without tickets will not be provided entry to the ceremony, so please make sure you have your tickets with you when you arrive.
Livestream: The capacity of our venue is approximately 700. Thus with 200 graduates, 400 guests, and 100 staff members and award presenters we are unfortunately unable to accommodate additional guests.
We recognize that extended families will want to observe and celebrate this occasion with their graduate. To this end, the ceremony will be livestreamed on Maranatha’s website (http://maranathacrcwoodstock.com/live-services) and YouTube (@maranathacrcwoodstock) so family members unable to attend in person can participate virtually.
Thank you for your cooperation with this and we appreciate not being placed in a position where we need to turn guests without tickets away at the door while preparing to celebrate the culmination of your graduate’s educational accomplishments.
Mr. Duffy
Grad Photo retakes will be happening at Huron Park on Thursday, February 13th and Friday, February 14th. Please go to www.bookmygrad.ca and enter the code HPK to see the list of available dates and times. Please note that payment must be made online.
Volunteer Hours – a reminder that completing 40 hours of community service is one of the requirements for graduation. A significant number of potential graduates have yet to submit their completed community service form and it would be a shame to miss walking across the stage due to missing this requirement. Please complete and submit these hours as soon as possible.
Commencement ceremony – will once again be at Maranatha Church on the evening of Thursday, June 12th. Students must be within 2 credits of meeting the mandatory 30 credits in order to walk across the stage at Commencement. More details will follow, but please be aware that as in past years tickets will be limited to 2 per student due to the increasing size of our graduating class. For extended family, the ceremony will be livestreamed.
Grad Caps and Gowns – are to be purchased through school cash online for the cost of $20. Grads will get to keep their caps and gowns after the commencement ceremony. More information on how to choose a size will be available on the Grade 12 Google classroom soon.
Community Employment Services - Any grade 12 student who is not returning in September and would like support finding employment will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with Community Employment Services (CES) at Huron Park. CES will provide students with personalized support, help determine the right direction for their futures and ensure they have access to the tools, training and certifications they need to be successful. Any student who wishes to take advantage of this opportunity and is under the age of 18 will receive a consent form for parents to sign. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Truelove (Vice Principal) or a member of our Guidance team: Mr. Scrivener, Mrs. Kalbfleisch or Mr. McGill.
