The transition from elementary to secondary school is a very exciting time for students. Many things occur in their final year of elementary that will help students make the transition smooth and enjoyable.

This is also a great opportunity to explore potential post-secondary destinations or career fields using myBlueprint . This research can be used to help assist students in the course selection process for Grade 9.
The myBlueprint Education Planner is an online tool available to all TVDSB students (Grades 7-12), teachers and parents to: investigate and research educational options for all pathways (apprenticeship, work, college and university), discover learning styles, explore career interest surveys, plan secondary school courses, set short-term and long-terms goals, build resumes and much more.

Huron Park offers a comprehensive Technology program covering a wide range of fields, including Manufacturing - SHSM* , Automotive, Construction, Design, Healthcare - SHSM*, Communication, Electrical, and Green Industries. Specialist High Skills Major*
The Elementary Guidance Lead teacher will take Grade 8 students through the process of putting their course selections into myBlueprint.
Course selections should be based on the individual students interests, ambitions, learning style and goals. In order for this to happen, students should speak with their teachers and parents/guardians when selecting courses.

Out-of area application:
TVDSB students and non TVDSB students.
During this time period, students will be asked to verify the courses they have selected. At this point, students have an opportunity to make any necessary changes to their Grade 9 Course Selection.
Registration is now open for TVDSB's New Credit eLearning Summer Program. Our new credit eLearning courses are open to TVDSB students registered for grade 9 at a TVDSB high school in September 2023. The New Credit eLearning Program runs from July 4 to July 28, 2024. Registration is open from March 19 until June 8, 2024.

Incoming Grade 8’s visit Huron Park and sit in on grade 9 classes and participate in other activities to to help them become familiar with their new school.
Once you have completed grade 8, you may begin to accumulate your 40 hours of community involvement that is a secondary school graduation requirement. The summer immediately following grade 8 is great opportunity to get this graduation requirement out of the way. Be sure to check the Volunteer section of the website to obtain the necessary forms and information about eligible community involvement activities.
Get a head start on Grade 9 with two days of tips, hints and skills!
High School Here I Come! is a non-credit summer program for Grade 8 students who are starting at a TVDSB high school in September 2023. Students will be provided with a variety of learning skills and strategies designed to help them with their transition to secondary school.
Topics that will be discussed:
The reality of High School
Academic expectations and study skills
Getting and staying organized
Getting involved in the school community
Literacy and Numeracy learning skills
For Summer 2024 the High School Here I Come! program will be delivered on site over two days.
Once registered, students will be scheduled to attend the program Monday, August 19 and Tuesday 20, 2024 OR Wednesday, August 21 and Thursday 22, 2024. Parents will receive communication prior to the start of the program to let them know the dates their child is scheduled to attend.
For Summer 2024, registration for High School Here I Come! will be completed through myBlueprint.

Jump Start! Grade 9 Literacy/Numeracy Prep
Jump Start! Grade 9 Literacy/Numeracy Prep is a summer program for Grade 8 students entering a Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) high school in September 2024. This program is geared towards students who would like to develop their Math and English skills in preparation for secondary school. Students will have the opportunity to build upon the knowledge base and processes foundational to Grade 9 Math and Grade 9 English. This year students will be granted a secondary credit if both programs are successfully completed. Students will be granted a GLD2O credit.
