Regional AgriScience and Technology Program
Animal Science
Students studying animal science prepare for careers such as veterinarian, veterinary technician, animal behaviorist, animal nutritionist, zoo keeper, farmer, dog kennel manager, animal breeder, animal groomer, and many more!
The courses here are all one semester (.5) credit courses. Students taking courses labelled ECE (Early College Experience) are eligible to receive UConn credits.

Animal Science Classes
In our animal science classroom we currently have guinea pigs, parakeets, rabbits, chinchillas, ferrets, many chickens and the occasional furry visitor.
Foundations of Agriscience & Technology
Students focus on the four main concentrations within the AgriScience and Technology program (Animal Science, Plant Science, Natural Resources and Agricultural Mechanics & Engineering) as well as current industry standard practices.
Introduction to Animal Science
An introduction to the animal science industry that takes a closer look at livestock animals.
Kennel Management
Students learn about the care and management of canines including health, disease, nutrition, and reproduction.
Livestock Management
Students learn the basics of livestock care and management.
Fish & Marine Life Management
Students learn about aquaculture and freshwater/saltwater fish.
Introduction to Companion Animal (UCONN Early College Experience Course)
Students learn about the care and management of small companion animals. They will earn an ECE credit from UConn.
Animal Reproduction and Genetics
Students learn about breeding techniques and animal genetics.
Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology
Students learn about the body systems of companion and livestock animals as well as basic health guidelines for animals.
Veterinary Science
Students learn about animal health and diseases and how to care for them.
Behavior & Training of Domestic Animals (UCONN Early College Experience Course)
Juniors and seniors are able to apply behavior theory to their hands-on work with a variety of animals.
