At GNR we LOVE celebrating birthdays!

I can't wait to celebrate your child's special day with the whole class! If your child's birthday falls on a break/weekend we will celebrate the day before the break/weekend. Should your child have a summer birthday we will celebrate their half birthday.

According to district policy, NO food items are permitted to be sent in to the classroom for your child's birthday celebration. Please consider one of the following fabulous alternatives instead, and remember that there should be enough for the whole class to enjoy:

What does snack time look like in Room 102?

Students working while they are eating.

Students have 10 minutes to eat

Students eating good choice snacks.

Students cleaning up any mess they made after they ate.

1 .   Can a student bring more than one snack?

Yes!  I never mind them eating more than one snack; when students are well fed they are focused.

2.  What are some examples of a HEALTHY snack?

Carrots, veggie straws, rice cakes, a piece of fruit.

3.  When can the students eat snack?

The students will eat snack at the designated time in our schedule so that students are not unmasking for long periods at varied times.

4.  Why are nuts not permitted in the classroom?

Nuts or anything containing nuts are not permitted in the classroom because we have several students with nut allergies.

5 . Why should I send a healthy snack?

Healthy snacks help students maintain energy throughout the day and help ensure they are ready to focus and learn.

6.  Can students bring water bottles?

Yes students can bring water bottles.  I would like them to be labeled with the child's name and to be placed on the floor next to or under their desk.  I ask them to be on the floor to avoid any spills damaging the amazing work that the children do!
