Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
9 coil array constructed, testing has begun, it is not as functional as we hoped
Metal for magnetic cores and plates has arrived
Many other things ordered, ready to be assembled
Accomplishments from Previous Week
9 coil array constructed
CAD model of the final product created
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Magnetic plates and cores machined and attached to the coils. - Edward, Jordan
CAD models updated, case 3D printed. - Siddarth, Edward
Specifics of coil dimensions and analysis completed. - Nick
Report work completed. - Chris

Showed 9 coil array, said that we may want to spread apart the coils - Going to look into the right spacing of the coils
Should look like "an iPad", be very very thin - Continuing to optimize design for thickness
Would look impressive if the case was made out of metal - Asked Ian about making the case out of metal
Sponsor would now like the total height of everything to be under 5mm

Ian said that making a case out of thin aluminum would be very difficult and time consuming - Looking into 3D printing, but designing it such that it may be made out of metal easily later
Prof. T was worried about finding a way to stir larger beakers using the 4 stirring position model. - Plan for later on, if our 4 stirring position design is successful. Don't need to worry about it for now

Will batteries fit within the dimensions? - Yes, we will make it work out. Thickness is a bigger priority than the other dimensions, and thin batteries definitely exist.
Risks and Areas of Concern
The specific dimensions of the coils, the spacings, and the optimal current are still being figured out. No single equation works well to find it all.
The magnetic cores and plates still need to be machined correctly
Resources or Information Required but not Available
None
