Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Analysis is in its early stages. Basic analysis of the electromagnetic coils as well as the fluid and the stirrer is being conducted. A design incorporating the most important aspects of the project while not including the less important aspects is being decided upon, based on how much time is available and how difficult the aspects seem.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Initial meeting with sponsor, understanding of project goals and obligations.
Continued contact with sponsor to receive all documentation, build initial relationship, and establish future meetings.
Created a Google drive to store documents, and uploaded notes from initial meeting.
Initial website work.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
FEM/Electrical modeling and analysis for the given electric coil. - Nick + Edward
Scaling down the model to analyse a smaller scale coil. - Nick + Edward
Risk Reduction analysis and presentation creation. - Chris, Jordan, Siddarth
Decision of exactly what goals we will shoot for. - Everyone
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
No viscosity risk reduction needed on small amounts of fluids - Not progressing with the risk reduction. (3/13/2017 - In person)
Further requirements of the project, 300-1000 rpm, 4 stirrers, thin and small, no separate speeds - Updating out designs. (3/13/2017 - In person)
We are to be creative to figure out a solution, but they encourage magnetic stirrers. - Moving forward with magnetic stirrer analysis. (3/13/2017 - In person)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
We should use COMSOL to model our system. - Nick downloaded and modeled the system in COMSOL. (3/7/2017 - In person)
We should contact the biology professor the system is being designed for. - Told not to contact under any circumstances. (3/7/2017 - In person)

Risks and Areas of Concern
Some goals are potentially far beyond the class's scope, since there are many stretch goals. Decisions about which are important need to be made.
Uncertain about scaling electromagnetic coils, and how to create it to test it ourselves.
Design of the PCB is uncertain, and beyond the knowledge of the group. Further research is required.
Using four stirrers at once probably has unintentional consequences that are as of now unforeseen.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Electronics and PCB information to run the system.
Coil specs, to be optained from our sponsor.
Schedule
Risk Reduction project needs to be completed in a week.
