Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
4 coil prototype with small wire functional under control of the arduino.
Now to try coils with different size wire, adapt for raspberry pi, make cores, and work on coil design.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Using Arduino, code was successfully implemented to stir the smallest stir bar at 1500 rpm.
Coils with different sized wires made.
Many items obtained.
Report started.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Test the different coils, determine which size wire is best. - Siddarth, Jordan
Make iron cores and plates. - Nick, Chris
Program Raspberry Pi to take place of Arduino - Edward
Test our coil setup for interference between stir bars and neighboring coils. - Everyone

Reduce thickness of the device as much as possible, that is the top priority size-wise.
Moving forward keeping that in mind, trying to keep the device as thin as possible. Thickness is the highest priority.
App control may force us to have a bigger device, so simultaneously go down both routes: one that has app control and the Raspberry Pi, and another without that control but that has some smaller controller.
Moving forward utilizing this. This frees up aspects of the design in both cases.

Look into heat sinks to dissipate heat from the coils, like graphite sheets.
Looking into it if heat continues to be a problem. Hopefully larger wires will mitigate the effects of the device heating up.

Risks and Areas of Concern
Neighboring coils and stir bars may affect each other, require more fine tuning.
Smaller coils may be unable to stir a bigger stir bar.
We will need to balance the size of the coils, wires, and their placement for optimum effect.
The whole system may end up being too big.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
