BACON Navy Model Revolver.

Caliber .38, rim fire, six shot, single action. 7 1/2 inch octagonal barrel. Total length 12 3/4 inches. Engraved iron frame. Spur trigger. Blued barrel and frame; case-hardened hammer. Shellacked walnut grips.

Typical marking: on the barrel "BACON MFG CO NORWICH CONN." Numbered on barrel, cylinder pin and on base of cylinder.

BEALS Navy Percussion Revolver.

Caliber .36, six shot, single action. 7 1/2 inch octagonal barrel. Total length 13 3/8 inches. Blued finish. Oil finished, walnut grips.

Typical marking: on the barrel "BEALS PATENT SEPT. 14, 1858. MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION NEW YORK". The number is stamped on barrel and on frame under the grips.

Caliber .44, six shot, single action. 8 inch octagonal barrel. Total length 13 7/8 inches. Otherwise same as Navy model above.

Caliber .54. 10 inch round, smooth bore barrel. Total length 16 inches. Silver mountings. The key fastened barrel has a rib extension underneath. Walnut half stock. Flat, bevelled gooseneck hammer. Iron pan.

Typical marking: on lock plate, under pan, "BIELRY & CO.", and engraving behind the hammer. The barrel is unmarked . . . SCARCE

Caliber .58. 12 inch semi-octagonal smoothbore barrel. Total length 17 inches. Iron mountings. The barrel is pin fastened to the full walnut stock with rounded butt. Goose-neck hammer. Iron pan.

Typical marking: on lock plate, under pan, "C. BIRD & CO. PHILADa WARRANTED" The barrel is unmarked . . . SCARCE

Same but with flat butt . . . SCARCE

Caliber .58. 8 inch brass, round, tapered, smoothbore barrel. Total length 13 1/2 inches. Brass mountings. The barrel is pin fastened to the full walnut stock. Goose-neck hammer. Iron pan.

Typical marking: on lock plate, under pan, "BOOTH". The barrel is marked "PHILADELPHIA" . . . SCARCE

BUTTERFIELD Army Percussion Revolver.

Caliber .41, five shot single action. 7 inch octagonal barrel. Total length 13 3/4 inches. Frame and trigger guard are bronze. Disc primer magazine in front of trigger guard. Barrel and cylinder were blued; frame, trigger guard and grip frame usually silver-plated. Shellacked walnut grips.

Typical marking: on top of frame "BUTTERFIELD'S PATENT DEC. 11, 1855, PHILADA." Number marked on frame, barrel, cylinder, loading lever, hammer-block, trigger and cylinder lock
