ADAMS Navy Percussion Revolver. (Mass. Arms Co.)

Caliber .36, five shot, double action. 6 inch octagonal barrel. Total length 11 1/2 inches. The checkered walnut grip has a hole bored through to take a lanyard. All metal parts were blued.

Typical marking: on top of the frame "MANUFACTURED BY MASS. ARMS CO. CHICOPEE FALLS". On the right side of the frame "PATENT JUNE 3, 1856", and on the left side "ADAM'S PATENT May 3, 1858". The loading lever is marked "KERR'S PATENT APRIL 14, 1857"

Caliber .44, six shot, single action. 7 1/2 inch round barrel, partly octagonal towards the breech. Total length 13 1/2 inches. Center hammer. Blued barrel, frame and cylinder; trigger guard and hammer case-hardened in mottled colors. Walnut grips.

Typical marking: on the left side of barrel "ALLEN & WHEELOCK WORCESTER MASS. U. S. ALLEN'S PT'S JAN. 13, DEC. 15, 1857. SEPT. 7, 1858"

Caliber .36, SIX shot, single action. 8 inch octagonal barrel. Total length 13 1/2 inches. The side-hammer is on the right side. Blued barrel frame and cylinder; case-hardened trigger guard and hammer.

Typical marking: "ALLEN & WHEELOCK WORCESTER MASS. U. S. ALLEN'S PTS. JAN. 13, DEC. 15, 1857, SEPT. 7, 1859." The cylinder IS engraved with a forest scene and animals. The number is stamped inside the loading lever.

Caliber .36, five shot, single action. 4\12 inch octagonal barrel. Total length 9Va inches. Sheath trigger. Round or fluted cylinder. Blued barrel, frame and cylinder: case-hardened loading lever and hammer. Walnut grips.

AMES, N.P. Percussion Pistol MODEL 1843, Army, Navy.

Caliber .54, 6 inch round, smooth bore, lacquer browned barrel without sights. Total length 11% inches. Case-hardened lock and hammer. Brass mountings. Swivel ramrod. Box lock, with hammer inside the lock plate. Walnut stock.

Typical marking: on lock plate "N. P. AMES SPRINGFIELD MASS", "USN" and date such as "1844". Barrel marked "USN RP P" and dated. Pistols made for army marked "USR"

Caliber .54, 8 5/8 inch round, smooth bore barrel octagonal at rear half. Total length 13 1/2 inches. Brass mountings. The barrel is pin fastened to full, curly maple stock. Flat goose.neck hammer. Iron pan.

Typical marking: on barrel "ANSTAT". Except for a double groove at the rear, the lock plate is unmarked . . . SCARCE

ASTON, H. Percussion Pistol MODEL 1842, Army, Navy.

Caliber .54. 8 1/2 inch round smoothbore barrel. Total length 14 inches. Brass mountings. Swivel ramrod. All steel parts, except the blued trigger, are bright finish. Walnut stock.

Typical marking: on lockplate "US H. ASTON" in front of hammer, and "MIDDtn CONN." and date such as "1850" behind the hammer. The barrel is marked "US", "P" and workman's initials such as "GP". Also dated on tang

Identical in all respects with the H. Aston Model 1842 pistol above, except for the marking on the lock plate which is stamped "US H. ASTON & CO" in front of hammer and "MIDDtn CONN 1851" behind the hammer
