Steinert Studio Policies for 2023-24.
MEME studios and equipment are for the use of students and faculty working on music studio related coursework or research. Student use will be limited to rooms that are relevant to each student's class work as determined by class instructors and teaching assistants.
The MEME studios include: Steinert room 101, and All 2nd floor spaces at Steinert: [Steinert Control Room (rm 208), Steinert Tracking Room (205), Steinert Project Studio (211), The Synth room (204), the shop (214), and the grad studio (213)]
Undergraduate ID card swipe access is reset every semester. We activate card swipe access using each semester’s class rosters. Contact the studio director for more information or requests. The Granoff Recording Studio is managed by the BAI - see below.
Access is provided only for designated students with an activated ID card. Those students must be present and active in any sessions they book. Students with swipe access are not allowed to arrange sessions for others, share their ID card to let others into the studios, or otherwise provide access for others.
The microphone closet at Steinert:
Microphones in the tracking room (rm. 205) are for use only in the tracking room. (other microphones are available for checkout - contact the studio director for details). Access to the microphone closet and cabinet is arranged through a passcode on a key lockbox - see your instructor, TA or the studio director for more info.

Booking Studio time:
Authorized undergraduate studio users can book a maximum of 5 hours of studio time in advance. Once that time is used up you are free to book additional time. There is no limit on the amount of time you can work if the schedule is free. Recurring appointments are not allowed except for scheduled classes. By limiting the amount of time users can reserve, we aim to give all users a fair opportunity to schedule time. Music graduate students and faculty can book up to 10 hours of studio time in advance. Any exceptions to these policies are rare and must be arranged in advance with the studio director.
Shared google calendars are used to book studio time. The calendars will be shared via brown email accounts for the rooms that are appropriate to a student's class work. See your instructor, TA or the studio director for more information. Read the policy notes above for the studio rules.
Once calendars are shared with a user, they should show up under 'other calendars' in your Brown gmail calendar. Here are direct calendar links should they be needed - the calendars are not public, theses links will only work if the calendar has been shared with you and you login.
