NOTE: April 11, 2025: We have added a 10 channel immersive system we are prototyping/testing in addition to the 5.1 system described below. See details here.
Make sure the interface is powered on (the buttons will light up green).
2. From within your application:
Pro Tools:
Check that the playback engine is set to the UR28M interface.
Logic Pro X:
Tab to I/O Assignments:
The outputs from the interface are normalled to the speakers in the following configuration:
L=1
R=2
C=3
LFE=4
L surround=5
R surround=6
In Logic, double check that your surround output settings match the image above. Then, set the output on your tracks to the surround output. Alternatively, you can set the outputs to outputs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 to send audio to a specific speaker.
You can control the monitor level with the JBL remote control. The speakers are networked - point at the left front speaker to control the level of the system.
On the interface, there are three buttons above the output level knob labelled A, B, and C. These are mix select buttons. Additionally, there is a source select button that can assign different outputs from your DAW to each of these three mix buttons. When you toggle a mix button and then hit mute, mono mix, or source select, the interface will remember this action and assign it to the mix that is toggled. This allows you to choose which outputs in your DAW are going to which speakers from the interface and selectively mute/mono certain speakers.
Mix buttons:
A = outputs 1/L and 2/R (the left and right speakers).
B = outputs 3/L and 4/R (the center speaker and sub).
C= outputs 5/L and 6/R (the left surround and right surround speakers).
Source select:
mix 1 = outputs 1 and 2 of your DAW
mix 2 = outputs 3 and 4 of your DAW
mix 3 = outputs 5 and 6 of your DAW
