The PreSonus Monitor Station V2 is a monitor controller that lets you manage multiple audio sources and outputs, like control room speakers and headphones. In simple terms, it’s where you decide what you’re listening to and where the sound goes, as well as control the volume.
The Monitor Station is divided horizontally into two main halves:
Cue Section: Controls what audio goes to the tracking room (via tie lines) and the four headphone outputs.
Main Section: Controls what audio plays through the control room speakers.

Select your source:
ST1: This is the main stereo output from your DAW (Main Out 1/2 from the MOTU Interface). The MOTU main volume knob controls its level, so keep that at or near maximum.
ST2: Typically used for the cue mix (see below). Allows you to monitor the cue mix (usually Outputs 7/8).
Aux: Connects a device (laptop/phone) using the 3.5mm aux cable. Ensure the Aux/SPDIF switch is set to Aux for playback. Adjust the Aux Level knob as needed (12 o'clock is a good starting point).
Select your speakers:
Speaker A: The main Genelec speakers in the control room.
Speaker B: Large in-wall speakers. Do not engage Speaker A and B at the same time to avoid volume and phase issues.
Speaker C: Not currently in use.
Adjusting your volume: Use the large knob to adjust overall volume in the control room.
Select your source:
ST1: Selecting this will send the main stereo output from your DAW to the tie lines in the tracking room.
ST2: Selecting this will send you cue mix to the tie lines in the tracking room (usually output 7 and 8 in your DAW).
Aux: Selecting this will send the connected Aux device to the tie lines in the tracking room.
Select your output:
Cue outputs are automatically normalled to tie lines 1 and 2 in the tracking room.
See the Patch Bay page for details on how to patch audio to other outputs.
Adjusting your volume: Use the "CUE Output" knob to adjust overall level.
For more details on setting up headphone mixes, see the Headphone Mixes page.
You can plug headphones into one of the four 1/4" outputs in the Cue Section of the monitor station.
Source Button: Choose whether the headphone gets audio from the main (control room speakers) or the cue section. Each headphone output has its own volume control.
Talk Button: Press once to engage the built-in talkback mic, which will send your voice through the cue section to the tracking room (via tie lines 1 and 2). Press again to turn it off.
Talk Level: Adjusts the volume of the talkback mic.
Attenuation: The Talk Button automatically attenuates (lowers) the volume in both the control and tracking rooms when engaged. Adjust this using the "Attenuation" knob.
For more details on using Talkback, see the Headphone Mixes page.
Mono Button: Converts the stereo input to mono (affects all inputs).
Mute Button: Mutes the main output (does not mute the cue section).
No Sound from Control Room Speakers:
Check that Speaker A is selected and that Speaker B is not engaged at the same time.
Ensure the ST1 or ST2 input is selected correctly.
Confirm that the MOTU main volume knob is turned up.
No Sound from Headphones:
Make sure the source button is set to the correct section (cue/main).
Ensure headphones are plugged into the correct output.
Talkback Not Working:
Ensure the Talk button is engaged (light should be on).
Adjust the Talk Level knob to increase the volume.
Speakers Sound Weird (Out of Phase):
Make sure Speaker A and Speaker B are not selected at the same time.
