Noisy, Glitchy Sound Clock Sync Issue

Sometimes Logic, and other programs, can lose digital clock sync with the interface (this has been an occasional bug in Logic for sometime but can happen with other software). Or, the problem can be the MOTU or HD Native interface needs to be reconnected, affecting any software - that will happen sometimes if the computer has been up for a while and gone through sleep cycles, or if different software has been accessing the interface, etc.

What it is:

First, try to recognize the error. It's a pretty erratic and consistent glitching, and it will usually affect all tracks and inputs. It can sound a bit like a ridiculously bad cable, a problem with phantom power, or just like a bit crusher effect is getting stronger and stronger on the master bus. If multiple channels are affected, suspect this.

A couple of solutions:

1. Make sure your DAW is 48kHz sample rate to agree with the Dante settings.

2. In Logic's (or other) audio preferences, select any different input and output device - like 'built-in', apply, and then re-select the MOTU or whatever the right device is (for instance, 'HD Native' if this happens in Granoff - and it has). Hit apply again. This will reset the software connection.

3. If that doesn't work, try shutting sown the interface and turning it back on.

4. If that doesn't work, shut down the computer and interface and then restart everything.
