Members of the BUAAHK are entitled to certain benefits and rights and undertake to support the objectives of the BUAAHK, particularly its role in the process of recruiting, interviewing and matriculating the best applicants to Brown from this area. Membership dues cover much of the admissions activity which normally can't be charged to applicants, their parents and guests.
Some BUAAHK events and privileges may be for members only. Most BUAAHK events apply attendance charges but members pay less where charges are tiered for non-members and members. Popular events have included exclusive briefings with Brown Admission directors, receptions for President Paxson celebrating Brown milestones and dinners for distinguished Professors from the Watson Institute speaking on current issues like globalization and climate change.
Those becoming members during the eligibility period prior to an Annual General Meeting may vote at that Annual General Meeting. Anyone becoming a member at any other time may take part in other general meetings and balloting but not the Annual General Meeting. Only BUAAHK members may run for positions on the BUAAHK Executive Board.
As of the year of 2018, all persons in the Brown community here are eligible to apply for membership at the following membership dues rates: HK$100 for those alumni who graduated within ten years of the membership application date; HK$400 for all others in the Brown community; HK$1,000 for Sustaining/Supporting Members which are those persons in the Brown community who wish to provide more funds to support the Alumni Interviewing Program’s events.
Each prospective member must submit a separate, individual membership appplication form and a membership becomes effective 7 days after the issuance date of our official receipt.
Details are on the membership form which may be downloaded, printed and completed and together with your cheque in the appropriate amount made out to the order of the “Brown University Alumni Association of Hong Kong”, sent to:
