Media Volunteers
Working in the Broadmeadow Media Center is a great way to both see your child during the school day AND make a big difference in our school!
Did you know that over 1,000 books circulate through the Broadmeadow library every week? But your child's weekly media period isn't just for taking out books — they also learn all about different authors, illustrators and book genres, as well as how to do research using print and online resources, give a "book talk" review in front of classmates, and much more. Having volunteers handle shelving and checking books in and out allows librarian Jenn Potter to focus on teaching and working with children.
If you have never been a media volunteer, don't worry! Contact us at media@broadmeadowptc.org and we will train you on your first day. Click on the Sign-Up Genius link below to volunteer and then select the tab for the day of the week you would like to come in.
Media Volunteer Information
We ask that you volunteer at least five times during the year (hopefully more!), but you can choose the times that work best for you.
We would like to have at least one volunteer per class, so try to sign up for empty days first.
Consider signing up for other slots beyond your child's media time — either another class or morning check-in.
If for some reason you are unable to make your slot, please try to swap slots with another parent — just cancelling leaves Ms. Potter short-handed.
Feel free to bring your younger children when you volunteer!
