Photographer Exposé Project:
seeing how others photographers created photographs, approached composition and concept, and contributed to the artistic community, can help us clarify our individual interests and objectives;
You will study a significant photographer, gather important information regarding the who, what, and why of this artist and review his/her most important artworks; see project sheet for more details
Powerpoint
1) create slideshow to use as teaching tool-- it should include images and information; remember you are teaching us, not just reading to us; use visuals to make connections to motivation and symbolism used; define any vocabulary and explain any statements-- remember if you can ask how or why after a statement, you need to further explain; at the end have a sources cited slide (can be web links); think about visual design-- use of color, type, animation/transitions; quotes from the artist can help support insights into artwork and motivations
Presentation
1) during presentation have images on screen at all times so we can make clear connections-- to do this you may need to have note cards to help with your presentation so we can see the image as you explain important points. Practice so you present in a clear and knowledgable manner.
Overview of Project
1) small groups
2) choose artist -- see list on website
3) gather research -- focus on key ideas of artist
4) analyze information
5) decide on key teaching points
6) use 3-5 artworks to support information and expand upon
7) create ppt as teaching tool -- think about design
8) sources cited slide at the end can just be the url for each
helpful tip #1 -- a photo of the person is a nice touch
helpful tip #2 -- clear visuals -- good size so we can see evidence of key points in work; when presenting make sure visuals are on screen; very difficult to understand analysis of artwork if we can't see it as you are presenting it
helpful tip #3 -- vocab and quotes are helpful -- define and expand
