What do you want to say????

Photo Essay

Use a story, poem, speech or lyrics to illustrate a personal point of view through photographic imagery and a digital slideshow.

This Final Project (slideshow/ mini movie) represents a significant work. It is a demonstration of your creativity, technical expertise, and your true understanding of photography. With this assignment, you have the opportunity to apply your knowledge, skill, and insight to create a collection that communicates your own ideas and your own original vision.

This should be a well organized and creative presentation that illustrates an overall point of view using 8-10 images. Your work should include refined photos of superior quality (showing visual clarity and proper editing) and typographic elements to further your message (this writing will compliment your imagery throughout your presentation and can be found prose or original content). Your presentation can include an embedded voice over and/or soundtrack or you can deliver a live voice over in class. The addition of music is a nice touch and can really add insight and depth to your idea but is not a main requirement.

You are expected to present your work in a way that is thoughtful, inventive, and professional. This Final Project should represent your best work.

Include an artist statement that acts as an introduction or conclusion. This writing should express the essence of your topic; needs to be original writing and is in addition to the text throughout your presentation.

Struggling with an idea for your final project?????

Do some brainstorming and generate a list of topics/words then think about: What do you want people to know, think, feel, do?

Do you want to celebrate something?

Are there life lessons you can share with us?

Are you trying to inform/educate us about something you think is important?

What should we value in life? How should we live life? What is most important in life?

Where do you see beauty? Where do you see tragedy? Where do you see strength? Where do you see hope? What does this say about the human condition?

What should we change about the way we live or the condition of the world?

Whom should we honor? Why?

How can we impact the world around us? How can you make a difference?

What is your personal experience or point of view?

Do you have a favor poem, story or song you could illustrate? What does this say about life/the human condition/our experience/ our impact?
