SCRIPT

THOMAS walks into the hall at the back of the studio, hurrying past the studio door.

He opens the door of the receptionist’s office and sees two teenage girls waiting there, one blonde and one brunette.

They leap to their feet, smiling at him.

The RECEPTIONIST gets up, and camera follows her as she comes up to THOMAS.

RECEPTIONIST

They say they’ve been asked to come here.

THOMAS

Not by me.

One of the two girls comes up to him.

BLONDE

Well, we weren’t exactly asked…

Medium shot of the PHOTOGRAPHER and the RECEPTIONIST, who stand looking at the two girls.

THOMAS annoyed

Sorry, I’m busy.

Then, turning to the RECEPTIONIST:

THOMAS

They’re printing some snaps for me upstairs; go and fetch ‘em.

The RECEPTIONIST goes to collect the prints.

THOMAS sits down behind the desk.

Camera moves in closer on the two girls.

BLONDE

Couldn’t you give us just a couple of minutes?

THOMAS fiddles with some coins on the desk.

THOMAS

A couple of minutes? I haven’t even got a couple of minutes to have my appendix out.

Close-up of a coin as he rolls it over his fingers.

THOMAS sits up with his feet up on the desk.

He tosses the coin away and switches on the radio.

SINGER on radio

…get you in a whole lot of trouble

Didn’t know you had troubles

Got my feet in the water

Caught you walkin’ toward his daughter

Get you in…

The two teenagers stand and look at him.

Then they move away as the RECEPTIONIST comes back with the prints.

SINGER on radio

…whole lot of trouble

Wow

Jubilee!

The two girls still stand watching him as the RECEPTIONIST gives him the prints.

THOMAS leafs through them, getting up as he does so.

Camera pans to follow all his movements.

BLONDE

Well, when can we come then?

THOMAS

Don’t.

He picks up his coat and is about to go out when he turns to the RECEPTIONIST and says:

THOMAS

Are the others still waiting with their eyes shut?

RECEPTIONIST

Yes, they’re waiting, but their eyes are open.

THOMAS

Good.

He makes for the door, then turns around again.

THOMAS

Tell them to shut them again.
