Push-up Power

All students at the beginning of this session are to complete as many push-ups as they can keeping in time to a beat. These will be recorded as ‘currency’ that individuals have, for trading purposes. Randomly choose five foreign investors who receive an extra $20 each, to demonstrate how foreign investors are expected to bring a certain amount of capital into NZ.

All students are to sit on the floor. All chairs are packed away. All tables are now known as ‘Houses/Property’. Students now bid for a tables. After a couple of auctions, stop the bidding and discuss how they could be ‘smarter’ in their investments. (Students may wish to form syndicate or conglomerates)

How it works:

• Edwin has given 1 dollar = 1 press up, they get to do as many possible in ONE go.
• A desk with 2 seats is a 2 bedroom house!
• Auction them off. You don’t have to sell at auction / pretend the price is too low.
• The desk/s may or may not have chairs with them
• Can auction just chairs or 7 chairs one desk
• If a person cannot pay up the auction price they get punished / like in real life

• Can you buy a house together?
• Can you rent something out?
• Can you sell an object like a chair?
