Use a persuasive writing structure for this piece. Think about who is on our money. Is there anyone who doesn't deserve it? Is there anyone who deserves it, but doesn't have his or her face on it?
Week 2
Take this beginning and expand on it. Put yourself in the place of someone who works with fixing pinatas. You can go super-serious on this, connecting the reader to the cardboard creature. Or, if you'd rather, you can have fun with this.
Week 3
Use the quote to start out your fictional writing piece about an epic adventure. Consider why they would want the protagonist to sign a waiver before beginning a mission.
Week 4
There's a big controversy right now about athletes (especially in football) who bring in millions of dollars to university while never getting paid. Some say that the scholarship is payment enough. Others say that the athletes deserve a part of the money.
Week 5
How is solving an equation similar to boxing? How is it different? What would it be like if you tackled hard math problems the way a fighter takes on an opponent? Reflective on this topic by using figurative language (metaphors, similes, etc.).
Week 6
Write an informative/explanatory text that persuades your reader that your chosen character has the most right to be angry with the author of their book. Remember to back up your ideas with clear reasons and to hook the reader in using the techniques we have learnt in class.
Week 7
Clearly inform the reader what you think about this approach to selling books. Do you think that it would be beneficial for you? Remember to explain yourself and the reasons behind your thinking.
Week 8
Imagine that you are pitching this idea to Pixar's writing and marketing teams. How are you going to persuade them that your idea will make a top-selling film?
Week 9
You choose the genre that suits you: persuasive, explanation or narrative. Make sure that you use the appropriate language features and structure for the genre that you choose.
Week 10
Use your knowledge of explanation and informative written pieces to give your opinion on this piece of writing. Does the writer's way of describing time link with your thinking? Why/ why not?
