Second Grade Newsletter 2/8/2013

Wow, what a great week with conferences! It was great to share the growth your children have made this year. It is amazing how fast the first two trimesters have gone by!

We have a busy week coming up with three big events! (I guess we are trying to make up for the lack of field trips in December and January. :) On Tuesday, we are hosting the second grade students from STEM Launch to participate in a presentation from the WOLF Sanctuary, and meet their wolf ambassador!

Wednesday morning we are headed to Hulstrom to see their presentation of “Thwacked” a Fairytale, please be here on time so we can leave promptly at 8:00am.

Thursday we will be going to SERI (Surgical Education & Research Institute) for Heart Education. Please bring a sack lunch and wear workout clothes so we can get our heart rates up! We thought this would be a fun and scientific way to celebrate the heart on Valentine’s Day! Students will be able to pass out valentines at the end of the day if they chose, but we will not be having a traditional party.

Please remember that families are welcome to all of these events, please just let us know if you plan on attending! We are planning a field trip to Northglenn High School for fossil exploration with an expert and some students in March. Also, we will be participating in the Farmers’ Highline Canal and Greenway Trail Cleanup on Saturday, March 16th from 8:30-11:30am. This is an opportunity to give back to the community with our students and their families. We will also be inviting the third grade students that participated last year!
