After a quick introduction and opening prayer by the event organizer, Yoong Kwong, the group was rallied by Aly, the most energetic trainer from Udder's Ice Cream. As expected, the 2-hour session was very interactive right from the very beginning - when Aly got everyone to warm up with not just the traditional handshake but with 3 new styles of handshakes including the Udders handshake! Once everyone was all hyped up, Aly got the ball rolling with an educational lesson on all things one needs to know to make perfectly home-made ice cream … from ingredients to texture and benefits!

Then the REAL FUN began … when groups were assigned to choose the flavours of ice cream that they wanted to make – Vanilla, Coconut and of course, the hot favourite … Chocolate!

Everyone was taught the 2 simple steps to make their own ice cream concoction.  The first step was the not so rigorous task of preparing the mixture. It simply involved lots of stirring, squeezing, pouring, and extracting all the ingredients - which are then added together.  Then came the next step of freezing the ice cream mix. This, I believe most will agree, was the ‘toughest’ part as it required lots of muscle strength and involved lots of SHAKING!

It was an interesting sight to see that while many were coolly shaking their bags of salted ice whilst sitting down, a few fathers & sons actually got up on their feet to get into the groove and rhythm of shaking their bags, obviously enjoying the freezing-process moment!

Finally, after a good 10–20 minutes of shaking & freezing time, everyone got down to serious business … devouring their hard-earned production! You could just tell how everyone was enjoying and celebrating their success by the proud gleam on their faces and the pat on the shoulders that they gave to one another.

What’s an eventful activity without a power wrap-up?  At the end of the enriching experience, the group was invited to feast on a buffet spread of ice cream complete with waffles and delicious crispy wafer cones.  Of course, many went for the most popular Udder's all-time favourite flavour, the ‘Mao Shan Wang’!

Once again, the event was a great bonding session between fathers and sons and exceeded everyone’s expectations!  There’s no doubt this Udder-licious activity will continue to be an annual event, so watch this space and stay tuned for more!

This year marks our very popular and successful 3rd annual ice cream making event for Fathers & Sons, held on 17th March at Udders Novena. An enthusiastic group of 62 participants were Udder-ly delighted to whip-up and wolf-down wonderful ice cream.
