Open for Registration: Father-Son Bonding Trip to Myanmar

We are pleased to inform you that the Overseas Community Involvement Programme (OCIP) 2017 will be to Myanmar in June. This father-son bonding trip is organised by Family@Barker Dads for Life.
The purpose of the trip is:
To develop the bond between fathers and sons going on the trip;
To develop students’ global awareness and see the difference in the lives of others in a neighbouring country, so that they acquire a well-informed and deep-rooted appreciation of Singapore and their lives here;
To develop and acquire 21st century competencies/skills; and
To provide an authentic context and experience for learning.
Details of the trip are as follows:
Dates: 3 – 7 June 2017 (Sat to Wed)
Estimated Cost (per pair): ~S$800 for flight + ~S$1,000 for hotel + local arrangement
Capacity: 40 pairs
Criteria: - At least 1 son must be an existing student of ACS(BR). - Mothers and daughters are not allowed on the trip
VIA points: Will be awarded to all participating students
Highlights of the trip include:
Tilling the land for crop plantation, upgrade the chicken coop, and work on the kitchen area at Andrew Youth orphanage;
Visiting Emmanuel orphanage;
Meeting the Singapore’s Ambassador to Yangon;
Sightseeing Shwedagon Pagoda, Scott market, Circular Train and Inya Lake; and
Participating in father-son bonding activities.

Registration is open on 13 February 2017 and will close on 27 February 2017 (Monday). First 30 registrations of father-son pairs will be guaranteed a place, and the rest will undergo balloting to fill the remaining 10 places. Final confirmation is based on payments received.
