The Lighthouse Ministry is one of our flagship programs in Family@Barker.  It is a series of 8 life skills lessons delivered by parents to Secondary 2 students within curriculum time, it forms part of the school's H-cube (Head, Hand, Heart) Student Development program.

In 2011, these lessons will take place every Tuesday from 12.30pm - 2.30pm, starting in Week 3 of Term 1(18 Jan)  to Week 2 of Term 2 (29 Mar), with the exception of Tuesday 1 March, being our Founder's Day.  The first hour is for briefing and training of parent facilitators & the second hour is for delivery of lessons in the classrooms.

These life-skills lessons are based on our Barker Value of RICE - Respect, Integrity, Commitment & Excellence.  The most unique feature of this program is the presence of parents in the classrooms - the parent facilitators get to interact with students in their natural classroom environment, we get a glimpse of how these students interact with one another and with the teachers; we get to know what makes them tick; and it also makes us appreciate our teachers more :)  Many parents who have helped in this MInistry felt that they too, have learned a thing or two from interacting with the gentlemen in the classrooms.

Please refer to the Lighthouse page for 2011 Lighthouse Ministry Program Schedule.  Please forward to your friends and invite them to the Introduction to Lighthouse Ministry Session on Tuesday 18 Jan 2011, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, in the School Boardroom in the basement of the Administration Block with lunch included.
