Family Bonding Through Play & Food

Saturday, Jan 26th, 2013: Most ACS gentlemen would spend Saturday mornings sleeping in, or catching up with their hobbies if they had a chance. But this Saturday was a little different as they excitedly returned to school with their families in tow to spend the morning doing things together.

All participants were given a Dads For Life goodie pack, comprising a Deck of Dads For Life card game, wrist band, and a book.

The first group that arrived went off to be geared up and to select their favourite weapon. After a quick but thorough briefing by the Tag Team organisers, Mr Peter Tan said a prayer of thanks for families, for a safe game, and both teams went off to their corners to strategise how to beat the other team.

Meanwhile, the second group was happily engaged in the Dads For Life card games.

After 15 minutes of play, the first group went off for a break, exhausted but exhilarated. And it was the second group's turn to play after Mrs Aw said a prayer for safety.

Everyone had 2 rounds of play, after which lunch was served, and Mrs Aw gave a talk on Family Bonding, and how playing and eating together are ways to keep family bonds strong. Mrs Aw shared her own experience where it became harder and harder to spend meaningful time together as a family as the children grew up. And how it is thus more important to be conscious and not let this precious time together slip away.

ACS (Barker Road) has long been a firm believer and strong advocate of family ties. Thus they are always seeking ways for everyone in the family to spend time together in a engaging way. Today was indeed the school's way to walk the talk, and provide a little help in ensuring healthy family ties in the days and years to come.
