ACS (Barker Rd) had the honour of hosting the last combined prayer meeting for 2018 on 21 Sep. We thank God for good turnout - more than 50 parents from 6 ACS schools were present. We had an amazing time of fellowship, catching up with friends from our brother schools.
Tan Yen Yen, Chairperson for Family@Barker warmly welcomed parents and encouraged us to continue praying for our schools, Principals, Staff and students as we cannot succeed in God without prayer! David Lim, a parent from ACS (Barker Rd) led us in an inspiring time of praise of worship to the Lord.
This was followed by an exhortation from our Principal, Mr Loo. He shared on the topic of stewardship from Matthew 25:14-30 - The Parable of Talents.
Lesson learnt
We are to work, using our talents to glorify God, serve the common good, and further God’s kingdom
God always gives us everything we need to do what he has called us to do
We are not all created equal
We work for the Master, not our own selfish purposes
We will be held accountable for our stewardship
What does this mean for ACS Schools?
For our gentlemen
Faithfulness to use what they have been given
Respecting each other regardless of what they have been given
Working for the Master – To God be the Glory
For our schools
Helping our gentlemen discover what God has already given them
Making stewardship tangible – school, community and beyond
For parents and community of supporters to believe, work and pray alongside
Before we gathered to pray for the schools, we had an opportunity to bless Mr Loo and Mr Tan (VP). It was heartwarming to see parents gathered in small groups praying and beseeching God to intervene in the lives of our young men and women. If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
We want to thank Mr Philip Poh, Christian Ministry Staff and Barker Road Methodist Church for the sumptuous breakfast that was provided for us. To God be the Glory!
