by Sophia KanFamily@Barker is privileged to have been able to host each year’s Teachers’ Day lunch.  And as Daren, the Chairman of Family@Barker, put it in his speech at the lunch, this is most rewarding for both parents and students to be able to grow alongside the school and its teachers. At the start of the celebrations, teachers were invited to flex their artistic muscles by each painting on a small canvas how they perceived their role as teachers.  Recurring motifs of rainbows, young plants and bridges filled the canvases which were pieced together to form a stunning mosaic of artworks forming the phrase ‘Teachers of Significance’.  Indeed, each teacher aspires to be a teacher of significance, whether as a bearer of hope, a nurturer of young minds, or a bridge between students and the school. This collage illustrates how each teacher has a significant role in ACS (Barker Road), even if he/she may not realise how they are contributing towards the "Masterpiece".Principal Peter Tan reminded the staff that we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. - Eph 2:10.

The teachers then went on to enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch and a line-up of games which had them thoroughly enjoying themselves. This is a great gratification for the parents who helped to organise this event as a tribute of thanks on behalf of the parents of all our boys at ACS (Barker Road).
