Juniper House – Home away from Home for Indigenous Athletes & Families
Juniper House, home of the Indigenous Student Resource Centre (ISRC), is located at 208 Elizabeth Avenue on the Memorial University St. John’s campus. The ISRC welcomes Indigenous athletes and their families to Juniper House during the Canada Games. Designed with input from Indigenous communities, Juniper House proudly reflects Indigenous cultures through its artwork and community spirit, offering a culturally rich place to connect and relax.
Athletes and their families are welcome to drop by Juniper House to rest and recharge. A smudge bowl and medicines are available for individuals who wish to smudge, and there is also a Kullik (qulliq or kudliq). ISRC staff will be on-site for conversations, tours, and cultural learnings.
Juniper House will be open to athletes and their families from 2pm-4pm on Tuesday, August 12, Thursday, August 14, Tuesday, August 19, and Thursday, August 21. Stop by to experience this welcoming hub and feel at home amidst the excitement of the Games!
