The Orangestore 2025 Canada Games Torch Relay kicked off on June 11, 2025, with a lighting ceremony from the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The Roly McLenahan Torch then traveled from North Sydney, Nova Scotia, to Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland, via ferry by our Journey Supporter partner, Marine Atlantic.
From June 2025 to August 2025, the Orangestore 2025 Canada Games Torch Relay will visit over 15 communities across Newfoundland and Labrador, and will engage with local residents through a series of events and community celebrations. In total, there will be over 130 torchbearers who will have the opportunity to carry the torch in their respective communities. As the torch makes its way to St. John’s for the Opening Ceremony, it is then used to ceremoniously light the Canada Games cauldron, presented by Computers for Schools, which will be located outside the Mary Brown’s Centre at 50 New Gower Street. The lighting of the cauldron during the Opening Ceremony officially marks the start of the Games and competition.
