Each Games the Host Society works with a local charity and participants of every province and territory, to collect donations, to support the selected charity.
This year we have selected two charities. Based on the needs of these charities we are suggesting each athlete bring a $1 for Kids Eat Smart and/or a new (unused) hygiene product for Thrive. Donation boxes will be available in the Village, for you to drop off your loonie and/ or personal hygiene products. Every donation collected will make a meaningful difference to the recipients and your support is greatly appreciated.
Charities
Kids Eat Smart - For over 31 years, Kids Eat Smart Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador has supported the education, health and well-being of school age children by providing access to food at school, at no cost to families. Province-wide, they serve over 47,000 meals every school day in 275 schools in Newfoundland and Labrador. Every Breakfast Counts and every $1 collected helps to provide breakfast for a child to help them learn and grow.
Thrive - Thrive was established in 2001 and is part of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Community Youth Networks which were established to provide services and support to resilient youth 12 – 18 years of age who live in poverty and have limited access to mainstream programs and services. Thrive is a leading social serving organization within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and has created some of our province's most innovative services to help these youth.
