Galería Panam es un espacio independiente dedicado a la difusión de las artes visuales, nacido desde la inquietud de la artista y productora de exposiciones Ana Sanhueza para responder a los criterios que dominan el mundo del arte y las galerías. Situada en pleno centro de Santiago, en un barrio que en los últimos años ha visto la progresiva reunión de una población inmigrante y alternativa, vecindario de la ex escuela de arte ARCIS, Galería Panam se instala en un barrio acostumbrado a un flujo de artistas entre una población diversa y creciente. En este escenario, Panam ha realizado 25 exposiciones desde noviembre del 2014, con una alta participación de público que visita las muestras, convirtiéndola así en un punto de reunión dentro de una zona de la ciudad que se activa de manera enérgica.

Los objetivos de Galería Panam son consolidar un espacio para el Arte, posibilitando la producción de muestras emergentes en uno de los barrios fundamentales del patrimonio urbanístico Santiaguino.

Su voluntad es la de producir y difundir la obra de artistas contemporáneos que tienen o pueden tener una presencia importante en la actividad cultural contextual, constituyéndose como personalidades clave para entender el estado actual de las cosas y consolidarse como un espacio de Arte basados en una curatoría específica para cada exposición, priorizando el valor artístico y la coherencia de la muestra, mas allá del afán especifico de venta a público que restringe a las galerías estándares.

Panam busca implementar una infraestructura para producir exhibiciones de Artes Visuales en un espacio que se presenta como una alternativa de las galerías comerciales y de esta manera participar directamente en el proceso de profesionalización de los artistas.

Galería Panam pretende ofrecer una experiencia alternativa en Barrio Brasil y aprovechar su área de influencia y convocatoria para ofrecer un espacio para las prácticas artísticas exploratorias e incipientes.

Panam Gallery is an independent, artist run space dedicated to the promotion of the visual arts in Santiago, Chile. Created and directed by artist and exhibition manager Ana Sanhueza it has become a center of activities that coexists within the standards that govern the art world and art galleries in Santiago today.

Located in downtown Santiago, in a neighbourhood that during recent years has been activated with a growing population of immigrants and hipsters, and home to the ARCIS Art School, it is a growing and diverse district in what used to be Santiago’s´ uptown in the 1900s. In this scenario Panam has been the home to 25 exhibitions since 2014. Its activities and its capacity to capture an audience have made it into a art space that through perseverance is slowly making a niche for itself.

It is the gallery´s determination is to produce and promote the work of contemporary artists that have, or will have, an active presence in our local art scene, and who are necessary players for the understanding of how and why things are as they are.

Panam aims to consolidate a space for art practices based on a specific curatorship for each presentation, prioritizing the artistic value of the works and the coherence of the exhibit over the need for its commercialization. The creative freedom that comes with the non-existence of ties and compromises faced by commercial galleries makes Panam unique.

Implement an infrastructure that opens opportunities to a strong and flourishing art community and in this way participate directly en the professionalization and promotion of artists.

Panam Gallery offers in Barrio Brasil an alternative to the traditional art gallery; with its influences and capacity to gather a crowd it pretends to make space for experimental and new artistes and art. Two people run the gallery: Ana Sanhueza its director, and photographer and Cultural manager Pamela Alvarado Álvarez with her work associated to sponsorship and media. Together they have generated a working mechanism with the mission to promote the visual arts.
