All Music Guide

Great website that I spent hours and hours on during my late teens and early 20s. Discovering this site changed my life. Connected the dots. Told me what I needed to hear next. Also, two of the best modern music writers write for this site: Heather Phares and, my personal favorite, Stephen Thomas Erlewine.

IMDB

The single best site ever made, even if everyone in the film world aside from me thinks it needs a massive overhaul. Want to study film but don't have money for classes? Let this site be your glossary, best friend and long lost brother.

Sixty Years War

Great collective of artists from around the U.S. that included an amazing - yet largely unknown - singer/songwriter named Lee Miles. Headed up by James Musselman, who is generous, hard working, talented and bound for whatever greatness he seeks.

Thunderhawk

The frontman of this band, Josh Hall, is by far the single most talented (and prolific) singer/songwriter/rocker/drinker dude we know of that hasn't "made it." He released five of the best albums of the decade without making a red cent. Just a matter of time ... in a fair world. Fingers crossed.

Stage Banter Message Boards

A great place to go chat up music and film and culture with some overly articulate brooding artist types. Bring on the major leagues.

Stephen Malkmus

The greatest thing to happen to music since the Beatles broke up? Well, since you asked, YES. Of course. Pavement went five-for-five and had four albums worth of great non-album tracks. All four Malkmus solo albums are great. All the Silver Jews albums he's on kill - especially American Water, which is one of the Top 5 records of the 90s. Marquee Mark? Awesome. Kim's Basement? Who knows. Stephen Motherfucking Malkmus. Saw the dude outside of a Whole Foods in Portland once. I froze up. Couldn't say shit. Fuck me for that.

The Auteurs

Best website ever for diehard film enthusiasts. Go sign on. Change you life.

Metacritic

We've not yet decided if Metacritic is the worst or best thing to happen to music and film journalism. Good arguments both ways. We will say this: if you only have 30 seconds to decide what film you're going to go see, this is THE go-to site. If you're not familiar, Metacritic compiles all the reviews they can and formulates scores for books, films, albums and video games. Something of a guitly please, we suppose.

Back in the USSA

Political blog written by the abovementioned Lee Miles. Lots of passion, energy and good intentions go into this site. Also, lots of research and tears.
