Meigs County
The following list of names of soldiers enlisted in West Virginia regiments comes from several sources. If the name has "1890" at the end then it came from the Meigs County, Ohio, 1890 census. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that the soldier originally enlisted from Meigs County, they could have moved there at any time after the war. If the name has "1870" at the end then it came from a list of Meigs County men who had died in the war or who had died up to the year 1870. It was published in the Meigs Telegraph, Nov. 2, 1870 in preparation for a soldier's monument. If the name has a "w" after it then that means it was the soldier's widow who was counted in the 1890 census.
