(Julve made) Salvador Ibáñez

This one has the nice label that I wanted but my other Salvador Ibanez lacks, however this one doesn't have a fixed bridge!? From the photos I can't see anything to suggest it ever had one and the previous guardian says his grandmother had it from new, so it seems unlikely that she would have lost the bridge and had it repaired like this? (if nothing else I would have thought she would have had the original bridge to re-attach rather than this floating bridge arrangement?)

On the other hand...

This is clearly a much later made Ukulele than my other Salvador Ibanez and comes from the period after Teleforo Julve took over the name, in Spain, in 1933. I have seen plenty of Julve made Ukuleles of this period, some even reside at Ukulele Corner under different brandings, but all of them have a fixed bridge; so why not this one?

I'm sure I will know more once it gets here.

It's here now and I really can't see any evidence of it ever having a fixed bridge? However the tailpiece doesn't look like it was factory fitted, (if it was it's a bit of a slapdash job), so I really don't know?

What I can say for sure though is that apart from some sharp fret edges, (that I have already dressed), it is a fine Ukulele with a fine sound hole label and its very welcome at Ukulele Corner
