Claire Helmke

Nebraska Canid Project Supervisor (2016)

Growing up in Virginia, Claire spent a lot of time hiking, camping, kayaking and rock climbing with family and friends. She had a constant desire to know what species of turtle, bird or flower she was looking at, and the experiences of her youth, inspired her to get a degree in Wildlife Science from Virginia Tech. Claire worked throughout the west before joining our lab in 2016 as a pheasant technician and then ultimately as the Canid Project Supervisor. After running our program she went on to supervise the Virginia Tech Shorebird Project and is now a graduate student at Western Illinois.
