This site dedicated to the memory of Mr Fred Hybart

It was his idea to post appliance repair advice on the internet for all to freely use and share. Mr Fred and his brother Captain Jim spent the majority of their lives helping the good folks of Mobile, Alabama. They both will be sorely missed but not forgotten by any means.

Gas Valves

Turn the knob to PILOT press it down and light the pilot
Hold it till the thermocouple heats up and release the
knob. Advance the knob to ON. 24 volts connects to the black
portion terminals. If you have no continuity between those
two connectors then that coil is defective. The pilot will
stay lit but the gas will not come out to the burner. You cannot
get just the solenoid. You must buy a new valve.
FYI: Theses valve solenoids/gas operators come in various voltages.
Millivolt,24 volt,line voltage(120). It is called a combination
valve because it has both the gas operator solenoid and
a pressure regulator built-in.
