Faux dynamic star

Take advantage of inference, the new break edge feature of SketchUp 7, and Scale at Center to make an adjustable star.

Note: Up until SketchUp 2021, Scale About Center is performed by keeping Ctrl pressed while using the Scale tool, Scale + Option on a Mac. (More Scale About Center fun is on the Tweaking page.) Starting with SketchUp 2021, you only need to click on the Ctrl button once to toggle on Scale About Center. Follow the tooltips down in the program's status bar.

Alternative tips:

      • Triple-click the model to select everything with the Select tool instead of dragging a selection box around the model.

      • Open the Soften Edges palette from the Window menu to soften the coplanar edges of the inner face instead of softening edges one-by-one. Double-click the inner face to select all the edges and check the Soften colanar box in the palette window.

Note: The animation here was done in SketchUp 7. SketchUp 6 needs an extra step as the second circle will not merge with the first circle. In SketchUp 6, after the two circles are positioned, they both need to be selected, then right-click > Intersect to merge the geometry.
