- Zoey often fails (gasp!) but she perseveres, makes a new plan and learns from her mistakes. Hello, growth mind-set!
- Zoey is a SCIENTIST. So the language and procedures of science are discussed throughout the book (but in such a fun way the kids don't feel like they're being taught).
- The kids and I still refer back to the science we learned while reading this series, even months/years after we've read them. It made the learning STICK!
- I love fantasy, so the magical creatures combined with science is awesome!
- I love that Zoey is a both a female and a person of color.
- Sassafras! I am a sucker for an animal sidekick, and Sass is a fantastic one!
