A little note about graphic novels: I was a teacher for 10 years before becoming a parent, and here is my philosophy on graphic novels. LET THEM READ WHAT THEY LOVE! I said this over and over as a teacher, but I lived it as a parent. My son has always loved being read TO, but Dav Pilkey made him a reader that also likes to read to himself! This started over a year ago and he still sits by himself at the table engrossed in books. He's moved on to other books now too. Think of it as "gateway" reading material if you must. But please, let them find something they love to read!
