Science Fiction

I used to believe that I didn't like science fiction very much. I thought science fiction happened out there in space somewhere. I thought science fiction was all about aliens and spaceships. Not so, it turns out. Science fiction is actually a lot like fantasy. It deals with things that are not very likely to happen in the world as we know it. The difference is that, while the things that happen in fantasy novels will probably never happen (think vampires, wizards, and talking animals), the things that happen in science fiction are based partly on actual scientific facts. Bottom line: Science fiction might happen someday (maybe). Fantasy won't. Major bummer for those of us who want to meet Edward Cullen.
