Junior Selection Policy 2016

This is a brief summary of the Irish Orienteering Association selection policy for JWOC and EYOC in 2016.

Athletes aiming for selection should read the full document concerning each event - attached below.

Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) 2016

9th - 15th July, Engadin in south east Switzerland

Classes M20, W20 (max 6 runners per class)

Eligible for selection are M/W20s and 2nd year M/W18s (born 1996, 1997, 1998). In exceptional cases first year M/W18s (born 1999) may be selected.

Competitors on the Irish team must hold a current Irish passport.

Selection events in brief: JK, Irish Champs, Leinster Champs.

Time Trial compulsory.

European Youth Orienteering Championships (EYOC) 2016

30th June - 3rd July, Jarosław, in south east Poland

Classes W18, M18, W16, M16 (max 4 runners per class)

Eligible for selection are M/W18s (born 1998, 1999) and second year M/W16s (born 2000). In exceptional cases first year M/W16s (born 2001) may be selected.

Competitors on the Irish team must hold a current Irish passport.

Selection events in brief: JK, Irish Champs, Leinster Champs.

Time Trial compulsory.

Junior Home International (JHI) 2016

The Irish JHI team is administered by the Northern Ireland Orienteering Association http://www.niorienteering.org.uk/NIOA/, the team includes competitors from both NIOA and IOA.

Classes W18, M18, W16, M16, W14, M14 (max 4 runners per class).

Competitors on the Irish JHI team must either:

- Have been born or have a parent who was born in Ireland or Northern Ireland

OR

- Have established residence for at least one year, this includes students who can prove a home base in Ireland/Northern Ireland.
